BRACKNELL Gymnastics Club are appealing to the public to dig deep and help send a dozen youngsters to the European TeamGym Championships.

After a season’s hard work, 12 of the club’s top performers have been selected to represent Great Britain at the tournament in Slovenia next month.

But the cost of sending each gymnast to Slovenia is around £1,050, which the club is struggling to find, despite staging a number of fundraising events.

As a result, Bracknell Gymnastics Club manager, Dr Peter Tranckle, is appealing for donations. He said: “We are very proud of our 12 gymnasts who have been selected.

“They have been through 18 months of gruelling trials, selections and rigorous training.

“They have been nothing short of inspirational, and are so deserving of our admiration and support.”

He added: “Ten years ago three young gymnast and coaches from Bracknell Leisure Centre represented GB at the European TeamGym Championships.

“They were so inspired they formed Bracknell Gymnastics Club, helping people of all ages to find self esteem, confidence and to beat physical and mental health issues.

“If three gymnasts can have such a profound impact imagine what good could come from these 12.”
