Bracknell celebrated an historic milestone earlier this month as we hosted the first Bracknell Forest Pride at The Lexicon.

I really loved the fun and celebration, and heard from so many people that the day allowed them to be true to themselves. This was the first Bracknell Pride event, but it will certainly not be the last.

Over the years, Bracknell Forest has welcomed new cultures and communities, and we’ve seen this most recently with the arrival of our guests on the Home for Ukraine scheme.

Bracknell Forest Community Day on July 8 will celebrate all the different cultures across Bracknell Forest.

This very exciting family occasion will take place in the Lexicon between 12 noon and 4.30pm. We can learn how different people came to live in our borough, and celebrate all they have brought.

It is also important to pay tribute to people who came to Britain a long time ago.

National Windrush Day on Thursday, June 22, marks 75 years since HMT Empire Windrush arrived in Britain. On board were more than 800 passengers from the Caribbean. It’s a reminder of the history behind their arrival and all they have contributed to this country.

It is ‘Armed Forces Week’, with ‘Armed Forces Day’ on Saturday, 24 June. We have a rich military tradition in the borough. There will be a flag raising ceremony at Sandhurst Memorial Park at 2pm on Thursday, June 22.

Bracknell Forest is a rich mix of traditional and new experiences. We have so much to celebrate.
