ASCOT United Under 18 Scorpions held on for a 5-4 victory in a classic game-of-two-halves contest against Hearts of Teddlothian Lions U17s.

An own goal and strikes from Kyran Flurry, James Garrett, Nico Mandozzi and Max Bharucha put Ascot firmly command at half-time, but with the aid of a strong wind Hearts mounted a stirring comeback, only to fall narrowly short.

Dan Mallett and Ollie Coughlin were on target for the U15 Royals, but they were beaten 3-2 by Laurel Park Hurricanes, while Ben Fuller’s effort was not enough to help the U15 Tornadoes as they lost 3-1 to Eldon Celtic.

The U14 Youth side edged past Corinthian Casuals 4-2, Pablo Sivov bagging a brace and Jack Hobbs and Daniel Martin-Cenzano also getting on the scoresheet, but the U12 Colts lost 3-0 to FC Sunbury.

The U16 Youth were knocked out of the League Cup at the quarter-final stage after going down 6-1 to a highly impressive Leatherhead, Alex Costello netting a consolation late on.

WOKINGHAM District Under 11s continued their impressive run of form with a fine 4-2 victory against Woking District.

The two sides were meeting for the fourth time this season, but it was the wet and windy weather conditions which dominated the start, both teams struggling to get a hold of the game in the opening stages.

Wokingham struggled to string a series of passes together, but they looked the better side in the closing minutes of the first half.

Henry Mott tested the Woking goalkeeper from long range on a number of occasions, and at the other end Ben Lewens was often quick off his line and started attacks with confidence.

The only goal of the half came in the 24th minute when a Wokingham corner found Mott with the ball at his feet towards the back post, and he calmly hammered it into the top corner to give the visitors the advantage.

As the game opened up in the second half, Dominic Ballard started to enjoy the space he kept finding in the centre of the park, and he rounded off a great breakaway when he thumped the ball home off the post to make it 2-0.

The icing seemed to be on the cake when Mott and Ballard both completed their braces to make it 4-0 in a matter of minutes, but Woking continued to fight and hit back through a looping header off a set-piece.

The home side kept knocking at the door and after an injury to Lewens the Wokingham defence were all over the place.

Woking took advantage and slotted in another to set up hopes of an astonishing comeback.

From there on the game continued as an end-to-end duel, but it was Wokingham who once again came away as victors.
