Hundreds of football fans from across Berkshire turned out this afternoon for the third annual 'Sellebrity Soccer' match in memory of a local Bracknell lad.

Sportsmen, soap actors, and social media and reality TV stars took to the field at Sandhurst FC where they went head-to-head.

The charity football match which is set to raise thousands of pounds for Brain Tumour Research, will also be a celebration of Ethan Treharne’s life and will mark his 20th birthday after passing away in November 2021 of a terminal brain tumour.

Both celebs and spectators alike were quick to praise the amazing effort that was put behind the day.

Love Island contestant, Jake Cornish said: “We’re looking forward to it. Sun’s out, and there are a lot of people here as usual. This is my third time here in Sandhurst and there are a few familiar faces that I remember, including some new ones on the team.

“I’ve got a good feeling about today.”

Woody from Woody and Kleiny said: “I’m excited. It’s my first game in a little while so I’m looking forward to it. It’s just as busy today as it was the last time I was here and it’s so nice to see people come out for such a good cause.”

Ethan’s friends and family were among the excited spectators excitedly waiting for the game to begin.

Best friend, Ellie Cook was part of the team that helped the event run smoothly.

Another of Ethan’s best mates, Louis took on the celebs alongside a group of his friends involved in different aspects of the event.

Local, Lucy Linnett commented: “I’m looking forward to seeing the singing dentist and Dan Osbourne. It’s the third year we’ve come because we’re locals and it’s just nice to be able to support it.

“It raises awareness more than anything and it’s a great chance to get out with the kids.”

Another resident and member of Team Ethan said: “The weather and the turnout this year is amazing. It’s become an annual event and now everyone comes down with the family and friends. The first year they did it it was something new to the area and now they get the same people coming, the same supporters.

Before the kick-off, the players, spectators, and members of the club gave Ethan a round of applause in dedication to what would have been his 20th birthday.
