Wedding receptions at a Binfield community centre could be allowed to go on until late in the evening if plans are given the go-ahead.

Binfield Community and Health Centre wants permission to close as late as midnight and open as early as 7am.

But Binfield Parish Council, which runs the centre, admits that the centre’s neighbours ‘may be concerned about the noise impact later in the evening.’

The centre on Wood Lane is currently only allowed to open to the public between 8am and 11pm. That restriction was imposed on the new building when it was granted planning permission in 2021.

But now the parish council says it has received requests to hold wedding receptions at the centre on Friday and Saturday evenings, which may require later closing times. It also says residents have asked for early morning fitness classes, which may need earlier openings.

The parish council has applied for permission to change the restrictions to allow the community centre to host more events.

It says in its application: “We have already received requests from residents regarding the possibility of early fitness classes running at the centre which people can attend before work. These may require setting up early.

“Events or meetings may run late or require pack up once complete later than 11pm, particularly at weekends. We have also received requests for wedding receptions and events for Friday and Saturday evenings from residents.”

It adds: “We understand that residents who directly neighbour the community centre may be concerned over the noise impact later in the evening.”

Bracknell Forest Council planning officers are set to consider the application.
