Bracknell Forest Council is encouraging residents to be more sustainable this Christmas and think more carefully about options for their Christmas trees.

In a recent social media post they have urged the public that if they are thinking about getting a tree this year, they should do so in a sustainable way.

They have advised the public to get a tree from an accredited source to minimise trees being brought over from different countries in an un-environmentally friendly way.

They have also suggested that possibly getting a real tree is not the most environmentally friendly way forward, and that residents should maybe consider getting a plastic or artificial tree this year that they can reuse every Christmas.

the post reads: "Looking to get a real Christmas tree?

"It should have accreditation from the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), which tells you that it has been grown sustainably and ethically.

"Alternatively, you can get an artificial Christmas tree that can be reused for years to come."
