BRACKNELL Forest thanked local armed forces during a flag raising ceremony as part of Armed Forces Day (June 24).

Cllr Georgia Pickering, armed forces champion for the borough, attended the flag raising event hosted by Sandhurst Town Council and supported by the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.

The Mayor of Bracknell Forest, Cllr Naheed Ejaz, also paid tribute to armed forces at the event, recognising the contribution of troops, service families, reservists, veterans and cadets.

Cllr Pickering said: “We are deeply proud of our armed forces personnel, veterans, and their families for the enormous contribution they make to our country.

“It was an honour and privilege to speak to so many of our local serving personnel today, meet their families and thank them for all they do to keep us safe.

“I’d also like to thank all the members of the public who attended the flag raising event to honour our armed forces; thanks to Sandhurst Town Council for organising the event and the Royal Military Academy for supporting it too.

“Showing support for the armed forces provides a much-valued morale boost for our troops and their families, so events like this are extremely important.”

The armed forces flag will remain outside the council’s Time Square offices.
