A Bracknell gym owner, who is keen to help people with their mental health, has released an online plea after being asked to leave their current premises.

Martin Cole, founder of Pride Combat Athletics started the gym in 2012 following a round of injuries which took him out of competitive boxing.

His ambition to help people stay fit, gain confidence, and provide a safe space gave him the groundwork to start building an ever-growing community of athletes.

The MMA gym provides children and adults from ages five and up the opportunity to learn kickboxing, Muay Thai, Boxing and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

The Go Fund Me was set up by Martin to help raise the initial start-up costs for their new home in Bagshot.

He said: “Pride Combat Athletics is a thriving community for children and adults to take part in combat sports. People attend classes for many reasons. This can be for improving general fitness, finding an outlet to help with difficulties in mental health or rehabilitation for athletes who have gained an injury.

“Our current landlord now needs the space we occupy, and we have to relocate. We have found the perfect place to call our own and grow our wonderful community, but there is an initial set-up cost that we are looking for support with.

“As part of our relocation, we will also be looking to give back to the local youth community by running anti-bullying campaigns, and for our adults and children we will be running free self-defence seminars and mental health workshops.

He added: “We would love to continue serving our community and helping others, and your assistance in helping us achieve this would be gratefully received.”

So far, the Go Fund Me has raised £2,395 with many past and present members showing their support.

Daniel James said: "Pride Combat is an incredible place to train. Great people and amazing facilities."
